Stay in Touch with FEMA About Your Disaster Assistance Application

DENVER – Boulder County, Colorado homeowners and renters who applied for FEMA disaster assistance because of the Marshall Fire or straight-line winds are encouraged to notify FEMA of changes to their mailing address, phone number, email address, and if they discover additional damage or receive an insurance settlement. Updating contact information ensures that FEMA can reach you to ask questions or provide new information. Missing or wrong information in your application could result in delays in receiving assistance.

It’s important to stay in touch with FEMA regarding any new information on your insurance claim. FEMA cannot complete your application until a copy of the insurance settlement is in your file. Once you receive the information from your agent, be sure to provide a copy to FEMA.

Homeowners and renters can track and update their information by:

  • Accessing DisasterAssistance.gov.
  • Calling 800-621-3362 (800-462-7585 TTY). Multilingual operators are available. The toll-free numbers are open every day from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. MST. If you use a relay service, such as video relay service (VRS), captioned phone, or others, give FEMA the number for that service.
  • Visiting the Disaster Recovery Center co-located with the Boulder County Disaster Assistance Center at 1755 S. Public Road, Lafayette, Colorado. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
  • Downloading the FEMA mobile app for smartphones.

Individuals who update their information must provide their nine-digit application number which is listed on all correspondence from FEMA.

Individuals or businesses seeking a U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) loan should complete the application as soon as possible.

To apply for an SBA low-interest disaster loan:

  • Apply online using SBA’s secure website at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela
  • Call SBA’s Disaster Assistance Customer Service Center at: 800-659-2955, (800-877-8339 TTY) or Video Relay Service (VRS) 800-659-2955.
  • Apply in person at the Disaster Recovery Center co-located with the Boulder County Disaster Assistance Center in Lafayette. Homeowners and renters can apply for SBA assistance on the first floor.  Businesses and nonprofit organizations can apply for SBA assistance on the second floor.

If the SBA application is not approved, individuals may qualify for an Other Needs Assistance (ONA) grant through FEMA. ONA may be used for disaster-related childcare, medical and dental expenses, automobile repair or replacement, and for damaged household items such as clothing or necessary educational materials.

To apply for ONA assistance, go to DisasterAssistance.gov.
