  • Transitional Sheltering Assistance (TSA), which pays for hotel or motel rooms as short-term, emergency sheltering for eligible Hurricane Ian survivors ends June 29, 2023, with a checkout date of June 30, 2023. The program was originally authorized for 180 days and was extended for an additional 90 days.
  • To date 4,584 households have sheltered in TSA participating hotels, 4,315 have found suitable, longer-term housing and moved on with their recovery. As of June 1, 269 households remain checked in to hotels.
  • FEMA, the State, and their partners have helped people living in TSA hotels create their own housing plan, suggested housing resources, and notified survivors of their check out date. For more information, they should contact their case advisor or call the FEMA helpline at 800-621-3362.
  • Applicants are encouraged to maintain contact with the State, voluntary agencies, local organizations, long-term recovery groups and other partners to find suitable housing before June 29, 2023.
  • TSA is one of several ways FEMA is helping hurricane survivors with emergency non-congregate sheltering.
    • In addition to non-congregate sheltering, FEMA is providing financial and direct housing assistance.
    • FEMA is funding a program for the state to provide travel trailers.

Continued Temporary Housing Assistance (CTHA) may be available for eligible applicants who found temporary housing because they are not able to return home.
