Making schools safer in earthquakes

Over the last few years, there have been major earthquakes in many parts of the world. Whether you’re at home, work, school or traveling in an earthquake-prone region, you should know how to protect yourself during an earthquake.

FEMA has provided Granite School District more than $630,000 or to repair Eisenhower Junior High and mitigation the structure against future earthquake damage.

This training, intended for facility managers, K-12 school administrators, and teachers, teaches participants about the most common earthquake hazards in K-12 schools and empowers them to mitigate these issues.

The objectives of the training are to:

This training provides guidance on school operations (i.e., what to do before, during, and after an event) and on the physical protection of school facilities (i.e., what can be done to the structure and facility to improve safety).  The training also includes some discussion of the FEM
