Detalles del Evento

This is the Hazus Quarterly Webinar, featuring guest speaker, Nick Lutz, from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). Nick is an Economist with the Hydrologic Engineering Center in USACE and is the lead of the National Structure Inventory. We'll be exploring the new Hazus Inventory National Database and the National Structures Inventory (NSI) 2022 open dataset. These powerful resources aim to make your hazard risk assessments and mitigation planning more efficient and effective.

A comprehensive national inventory database is crucial for risk assessments, as it helps identify potential exposure to various hazards, including those not currently covered by Hazus modeling capabilities. By combining the Hazus Inventory National Database and the NSI 2022 dataset, you'll have access to a wealth of risk assessment inventory information such as: demographics, structure data at the site-specific level with vulnerability attributes, essential facilities, transportation systems, and so much more, for better-informed risk assessment decision-making.

During the webinar, we dive into:

  • The ins and outs of the Hazus Inventory National Database and why it's a game-changer for the risk assessment community.
  • A live demo on how to access and use the database with various GIS software.
  • An introduction to the NSI 2022 open dataset, with insights from our guest speaker, Nick Lutz, from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
  • Real-world applications of both databases to support your hazard risk assessments and mitigation planning.

These databases are packed with valuable data, and we guide you through making the most of them.

Speakers:

  • Jesse Rozelle, Natural Hazard Risk Assessment Program Manager
  • Doug Bausch, Hazus Subject Matter Expert and Niyam IT Director of Data Analytics
  • Ashley Hoke, Hazus Project Manager and Communications Lead
  • Nick Lutz, Economist at U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and NSI 2022 Lead
