DeSoto County Recovery at a Glance as of Oct. 31, 2022

Since the federal disaster declaration for Hurricane Ian, DeSoto County residents have received more than $16.3 million in federal funds as of Oct. 31, 2022:

  • $13.1 million in FEMA grants to homeowners and renters.
  • $3.2 million in U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) low-interest disaster loans approved for homeowners, renters and businesses.

Individual Assistance in DeSoto County

3,835 homeowners and renters have been approved for $13,175,643 in federal grants through FEMA’s Individuals and Households Program. This includes:

  • $8,949,507 in Housing Assistance grants for home repair, home replacement, and/or rental assistance.
  • $4,226,137 in Other Needs Assistance grants to replace essential household items and for other critical disaster-related expenses.
  • 667 homeowners and renters have been approved for rental assistance.
  • 2,599 home inspections issued; 2,502 completed.
  • Disaster Survivor Assistance (DSA) visited 2,619 households in DeSoto County.

U.S. Small Business Administration

SBA has approved $3,232,700 in low-interest disaster loans to 55 applicants in DeSoto County.

Public Assistance

DeSoto County was approved for assistance for debris removal, emergency protective measures and permanent work.
