As the people of New York repair and rebuild their homes, FEMA has teamed with Lowe’s home-improvement store in Queens to provide free information and tips on how to make homes damaged by natural disasters stronger and safer.

The Suffolk County Disaster Recovery Center will close permanently at 6 p.m. Saturday but residents affected by Hurricane Ida can still get help with their FEMA applications for disaster assistance. Help is only as far away as your telephone, computer or mobile device.
