ORLANDO, Fla. – FEMA has approved $1,497,411 for the State of Florida to help Miami-Dade County defray the costs of debris removal for Hurricane Irma under FEMA’s Public Assistance Program.

FEMA funds will reimburse Miami-Dade County for the collection, reduction and disposal of debris between Sept. 18 and Oct. 17, 2017 following the September 2017 storm. During that time period, county workers gathered and hauled away 21,234 cubic yards of vegetative debris from public property and rights of way throughout the city for landfill disposal.

The Coordinated Place Based Recovery Support (CPBRS) team provides a framework for organizing and delivering federal, state, and private sector recovery resources in support of local recovery leadership in Collier, Hendry, Lee and Monroe counties. The purpose of the CPBRS teams is to help communities get disaster recovery projects to the implementation stage, with the goal of improving community disaster resilience.
