ORLANDO, Fla. – FEMA has approved a grant of $1,157,946 for the City of Largo to defray the cost of protecting four lift stations from flooding.

After Hurricane Irma in 2017, FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) will assist the city in maintaining continuous water service by elevating the lift station components to reduce the risk of sanitary sewer overflow during a storm.

ORLANDO, Fla. – FEMA has awarded grants totaling $10,219,012 for the State of Florida to reimburse applicants for debris removal following Hurricane Irma in 2017.

ORLANDO, Fla. – FEMA has approved a grant of $1,454,257 for the City of Ocala to defray the cost of installing 20 backup generators and other improvements to its water system.

ORLANDO, Fla. – FEMA has approved a grant of $7,225,885 for the Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority to defray the cost of installing four generators at the Stock Island Reverse Osmosis Facility to provide emergency power during a storm.

After Hurricane Irma in 2017, FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) will assist the lower Florida Keys in maintaining continuous water service with the installation of the generators, which will protect against a 500-year flood event.

Mitigation Assessment Team Compendium Report: 2017 Hurricane Season (FEMA P-2054)

The 2017 Atlantic hurricane season was extremely active, producing 17 named storms. Six of these storms became major hurricanes (Category 3, 4, or 5), and three ranked in the National Hurricane Center’s (NHC’s) top five hurricanes with the greatest cumulative damage.
