FEMA Deploys Disaster Survivor Assistance Teams to Carbon, Park and Stillwater Counties

Helena, Mont.– Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) specialists are working in areas impacted by the June 2022 flooding to help disaster survivors in the affected counties apply for FEMA assistance as well as provide information about resources.

FEMA’s Disaster Survivor Assistance (DSA) Teams will travel door-to-door and to public locations in communities throughout Carbon, Park and Stillwater counties to provide additional information for accessing and applying for disaster assistance. They can also help survivors who may face barriers to traditional application methods in accessing assistance programs and resources to support their recovery. Please be aware that DSA staff will be wearing FEMA attire, will have appropriate federal identification, and NEVER charge for assistance.

DSA specialists can help with:

  • Submitting applications for federal assistance.
  • Checking the status of an application already in the system or making minor changes to applications.
  • Providing civil rights and disability integration information to survivors who have difficulty accessing the application process ensure equal access to FEMA programs.

Several Mobile Registration Intake Centers (MRICs) are also coming to the area. These locations will have DSA teams onsite assisting with applications, inquiries, updates, and referrals. Three upcoming MRICs include:

Residents in the designated counties can apply online at disasterassistance.gov, by calling 800-621-3362, or by using the FEMA mobile app. If you use a relay service, such as video relay (VRS), captioned telephone or other service, give FEMA the number for that service. Individuals who have submitted damage reports with their municipality or county through online assessment tools, will still need to begin a new case and file information with FEMA.
