SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. --Survivors who received temporary rental help from FEMA in the aftermath of the Sevier County wildfires are encouraged to request an additional temporary rental grant if they can demonstrate their need still exists.
Those who received temporary rental assistance also received a “Continued Temporary Housing Assistance” letter and application. The form, which is mailed to applicants who receive an initial rental assistance grant, explains how to request additional temporary rental assistance.
To receive additional funding through FEMA’s Individual Assistance program, applicants must:
- provide verifiable documents showing they used the rental assistance award to rent a temporary housing unit
- complete the “Application for Continued Temporary Housing Assistance” and return it to FEMA
- provide information on pre-disaster income and housing expenses
- provide information on current income and housing expenses
- include a signed copy of the new lease or rental agreement, and the name and phone number of their landlord
- include a signed copy of their pre-disaster lease, if they were renters before the wildfires.
Applicants must submit the documentation 30 days before exhausting the funds already provided.

Federal disaster assistance is available to eligible individuals and households and those who were working in or visiting Sevier County and were affected by the Nov. 28-Dec. 9 wildfires. The deadline to register for disaster assistance is Monday, Feb. 13.
