Declaration: Feb. 26, 2025 (Individual Assistance); March 19, 2025 (Public Assistance) 

Key Messages 

  • Deadline to apply for Individual Assistance is April 28, 2025. When applying for FEMA assistance, residents should provide their 911 address as the location at the time of disaster so that their application is accurate.
  • The quickest way to apply is online at DisasterAssistance.gov or downloading the FEMA App. You can also speak to a FEMA specialist and apply by calling 800-621-3362.
  • Four (4) Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) are open to help survivors apply for assistance, answer questions, and provide access to resources from other agencies. To find center locations go to fema.gov/drc or text “DRC” and a Zip Code to 43362. 

By the Numbers 

  • FEMA has approved $ 24,805,168 for Individual Assistance, which includes: 

    o$ 16,209,435 for Housing Assistance o $ 8,595,732 for Other Needs Assistance 

  • FEMA has received 4,904 valid registrations for Individual Assistance
  • Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) have had 3,522 visitors
  • The Disaster Survivor Assistance (DSA) mission has concluded. DSA teams visited 13,424 homes
  • To date, Small Business Administration (SBA) has offered $3,487,000 for eligible applicants 

Individual Assistance and Public Assistance 

  • Individual Assistance-designated counties: Logan, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Raleigh, Wayne, and Wyoming
    • The Individual Assistance deadline to apply is April 28, 2025. 

Public Assistance-designated counties: Boone, Greenbrier, Lincoln, Logan, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Monroe, Raleigh, Summers, Wayne, and Wyoming. 

  • The Request for Public Assistance (RPA) deadline is April 18, 2025. The RPA deadline for Raleigh and Boone counties will extend to May 1, 2025. 

Disaster Recovery Centers 

  • Disaster Recovery Centers are open in McDowell, Mingo, Raleigh and Wyoming counties. Locations can be found online at the fema.gov/drc  or www.fema.gov/disaster/4861.
  • All centers are accessible to people with disabilities or access and functional needs and are equipped with assistive technology. Residents do not need to visit a center to apply for assistance. Impacted residents can apply online, at a Disaster Recovery Center, through the FEMA App, and by calling the FEMA helpline at 1-800621-3362. FEMA does not distribute cash at Disaster Recovery Centers. 

U.S. Small Business Administration 

  • The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) offers low-interest disaster loans for homeowners, renters, businesses and nonprofit organizations to cover losses not fully compensated by insurance and other sources. 

    Apply online at SBA.gov/disaster. 

  • Disaster loan information and application forms can also be obtained by calling the SBA’s Customer Service Center at 800-659-2955. To learn more, visit www.sba.gov.
