The city of New Orleans addresses flood risk to severe repetitive loss properties.

alert - info

City of New Orleans, Louisiana: $5.48 million

The city of New Orleans is undertaking mitigation efforts to decrease flood risk for severe repetitive loss properties that have a total of 131 severe repetitive loss and repetitive loss paid claims. This elevation project will mitigate one structure in Orleans Parish and use stabilization measures to reduce the impacts of subsidence on the structure and reduce stormwater runoff burden on the city’s drainage system.

While mitigation reconstruction will be an alternate mitigation activity to elevation, the structure will be required to use the same square footage as the original structure (plus the allowable 10% increase) if it meets the city’s current ordinances.
