WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced that Federal disaster assistance has been made available to the state of Georgia to supplement State and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by severe storms, tornadoes, and straight-line winds during the period of January 21-22, 2017.

The President's action makes Federal funding available to affected individuals in Berrien, Cook, Crisp, Dougherty, Turner, and Wilcox counties.

Following is a summary of key federal disaster aid programs that can be made available as needed and warranted under President Trump's disaster declaration issued for the State of Georgia.  

Assistance for Affected Individuals and Families Can Include as Required:

ATLANTA – Homeowners, renters and business owners in Berrien, Cook, Crisp, Dougherty, Turner and Wilcox counties affected by January severe storms and tornadoes are urged to register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, as they may be eligible for disaster assistance.

DURHAM, N.C. – The Disaster Recovery Centers in Cumberland, Edgecombe and Robeson counties will close at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2.

DURHAM, N.C. – The deadline for registering with FEMA has passed, but that does not mean FEMA is leaving. Much work remains to be done in North Carolina and FEMA continues working with North Carolina Emergency Management to help survivors and communities recover.

Three disaster recovery centers are still open in Cumberland, Edgecombe and Robeson counties.
