On Friday, President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. approved a Major Disaster Declaration for Florida. Federal disaster assistance is available to the state of Florida to supplement recovery efforts in the areas affected by Hurricane Milton from on Oct. 5, 2024, and continuing.

Homeowners and renters in 34 Florida counties and the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida who had uninsured or underinsured damage or losses caused by Hurricane Milton may now apply for FEMA disaster assistance.
