Lodging Expense Reimbursement (LER)

After Houston and Humphreys counties decided to participate in the National Flood Insurance Program in mid-September, residents affected by severe storms and flooding in August have received nearly $1 million in additional federal disaster assistance so far.

Homeowners and renters in Dickson, Hickman, Houston and Humphreys counties with uninsured damage or losses from the Aug. 21 severe storms and flooding have until Oct. 25, 2021 to apply to FEMA for federal disaster assistance and to the U.S. Small Business Administration for low-interest disaster loans.

If you were displaced from the severe storms and flooding on Aug. 21 and live in Dickson, Hickman, Houston, or Humphreys counties, you may be eligible for lodging expense reimbursement (LER) for short-term lodging spent in a motel or hotel.

After disasters, such as the severe storms and flooding that took place in Middle Tennessee on Aug. 21, misinformation and rumors may hinder residents from applying for federal assistance.
