The President has committed full federal support for response to the water emergency in Jackson. FEMA, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are supporting local and state actions to restore safe water supply to the Jackson area.
President Biden signed an Emergency Declaration requested by Governor Tate Reeves on Aug. 30, 2022. The declaration authorizes emergency protective measures including Direct Federal Assistance for Hinds County at 75 percent federal funding for 90 days.
FEMA announced that federal emergency aid has been made available to the state of Mississippi to supplement state response efforts due to emergency conditions resulting from a water crisis beginning on Aug. 30, 2022 and continuing.
