FEMA has released the Hazard Mitigation Assistance Program and Policy Guide (HMA Guide). As of March 23, 2023, the HMA Guide is effective and replaces the 2015 Hazard Mitigation Assistance Guidance and the 2015 Hazard Mitigation Assistance Guidance Addendum.

The Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) program makes federal funds available to states, U.S. territories, federally recognized tribal governments, and local communities to reduce or eliminate the risk of repetitive flood damage to buildings and structures insured under the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). FMA is launching a disaster initiative called Swift Current that will distribute funding in alignment with the survivor experience. FEMA’s intent for the Swift Current Initiative is to explore how to make flood mitigation assistance available within the disaster recovery timeframe, for repetitively flooded and substantially damaged buildings insured under the NFIP, in advance of the annual grant process. This fact sheet provides detailed information on projects eligible under the fiscal year 2022 (FY22) FMA Swift Current program.

The Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Claims Office is hiring full-time positions to support the processing of claims and provision of compensation to claimants impacted by the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Fire. The duty stations for these positions will be Santa Fe, Las Vegas or Mora, NM, and the pay grades for positions will range from IC- 9 ($55,169) to IC-14 ($146,149).
