RALEIGH, N.C. – State and federal recovery officials announce new hours for the Guilford County disaster recovery center. Hours are now 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, closed Sundays.

The temporary center, located within the Guilford County Dept. of Public Health at 1203 Maple St., Greensboro, was opened to provide one-to-one assistance to survivors of the April 15 tornado.

At the center, survivors who have registered with FEMA can get answers to their questions and get help completing their U.S. Small Business Administration disaster loan application.

Survivors are encouraged to register for disaster assistance with FEMA even if they have insurance. FEMA cannot duplicate insurance payments, but underinsured applicants may receive help after their claims have been settled.

The deadline to register is July 9, 2018. Survivors can register online at any time at DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 800-621-3362. Applicants who use 711 or Video Relay Service may also call 800-621-3362. Persons who are deaf, hard of hearing or have a speech disability and use a TTY may call 800-462-7585. The toll-free numbers are open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week. Multilingual operators are available.
