Rumor: FEMA is issuing vouchers for hotels and motel stays.

Fact

This is false. FEMA does not issue vouchers but does help with temporary hotel and motel stays through the Transitional Sheltering Assistance (TSA) program.

If you applied for disaster assistance and are eligible for TSA, you will receive a phone call or notice in your email that confirms your eligibility. You will then need to visit femaemergencyhotels.com to search available hotel options. Have your 9-digit FEMA registration number ready to search for hotels that are part of the TSA program.

It is important to call the hotel before you arrive to confirm they have rooms available under TSA. Once you have confirmed a room is available, you can travel to the hotel and provide your FEMA registration number, first and last name, last 4 of digits of your social security number, and a valid photo ID when you check in. TSA is limited to the cost of the room rates, taxes and pet charges. All other services, amenities, fees, or charges are the responsibility of the applicant.
