WASHINGTON — The Whole-of-America response to fighting the COVID-19 pandemic continues as National Guard soldiers and other federal agencies throughout the country worked to set up alternative health care facilities.
Under the direction of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, FEMA, HHS and our federal partners are working with state, local, tribal and territorial governments to execute a whole of government response to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and protect the public.

Detroit District begins construction on alternate care facility

DETROIT, Mich. (March 29, 2020) — The Detroit District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers work to construct a large alternate care facility in downtown Detroit after being mission assigned by FEMA. USACE continues to make significant progress across the nation in its efforts to support the FEMA-led response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic.
California National Guard Medical Detachment assist state authorities

BURLINGAME, Calif. (March 29, 2020) – VIDEO — The California National Guard intensified its COVID-19 mission by sending its Medical Detachment into the San Francisco Bay Area to assist the California Emergency Medical Services Authority at COVID-19 facility.
Pennsylvania National Guard Supports FEMA Medical Station

ANNVILLE, Penn. (Photo from March 28, 2020) — Over the weekend, 25 Pennsylvania National Guardsmen on state active duty provided logistical assistance to FEMA at the Glen Mills School as they unloaded federal equipment to establish a federal medical station.
USS Detroit Docks in Key West to Support COVID-19 Response

KEY WEST, Fla. (March 29, 2020) — Freedom-class littoral combat ship USS Detroit docks at Naval Air Station Key West’s Truman Harbor during a port visit to conduct emergent repairs. As a protective measure against the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the ship’s crew of 90 will be limited to the base while in Key West in order to protect its people and maintain mission readiness. Navy installations are responsible for keeping airfields, ports, Navy housing, galley services, medical facilities, and utilities open and supporting the fleet, fighters and families. Detroit is deployed to the U.S. Southern Command’s area of responsibility to support Joint Interagency Task Force South’s mission, which includes counter-drug patrols and detection and monitoring of illicit traffic in the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific.
New York National Guard Supports Operation COVID-19

National Guard soldiers helped to construct a field hospital in the convention center so it can serve as alternative care site as part of New York’s multi-agency response to COVID-19.
146th Airlift Wing assists in assembling federal medical stations at Los Angeles Convention Center

LOS ANGELES (March 29, 2020) — California Air National Guard personnel from the 146th Airlift Wing assist with retrofitting the Los Angeles Convention Center into a federal medical station. The 146th Airlift Wing has been mobilized to provide humanitarian aid across the state of California in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
