FEMA manages the National Flood Insurance Program which includes more than 22,600 Participating Communities. This year, FEMA’s Floodplain Management Division is conducting a survey of the nation’s Floodplain Administrators who manage local floodplains for these jurisdictions. Survey findings will inform a five-year National Floodplain Administrators Training Strategy that will be coordinated by the Floodplain Management Division.

FEMA announced that federal disaster assistance is available to the state of Tennessee to supplement recovery efforts in the areas affected by the severe storms, tornadoes and flooding from May 8-9, 2024.
FEMA may need to contact Tennessee residents who applied for assistance after the Dec. 9, 2023, storms and tornadoes. Applicants should be aware that the calls may come from out-of-state or unidentified numbers.
FEMA is offering Tennessee residents free advice on how to rebuild stronger and safer against storms.
