One Month Remains to Apply for FEMA Assistance After Hurricane Debby

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Floridians who sustained loss from Hurricane Debby have one month remaining to apply for federal assistance. The deadline is Oct. 9, 2024.

To date, federal funding for assistance to households, low-interest disaster loans and flood insurance includes:

FEMA specialists are going door to door in affected communities helping people apply for assistance. To date, they have visited more than 35,000 homes and 2,500 public locations. Disaster Recovery Centers have been visited more than 3,300 times. 

Homeowners and renters in Alachua, Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Jefferson, Lafayette, Levy, Madison, Manatee, Sarasota, Suwannee and Taylor counties with losses from Hurricane Debby may be eligible for FEMA financial assistance for serious needs, displacement, basic home repairs, personal property losses and other uninsured or underinsured disaster-caused expenses. 

The quickest way to apply is to go online to DisasterAssistance.gov. You can also apply using the FEMA App for mobile devices or calling toll-free 800-621-3362. The telephone line is open every day and help is available in most languages. If you use a relay service, such as Video Relay Service (VRS), captioned telephone or other service, give FEMA your number for that service.
