D-SNAP for Hurricane Ian Survivors

Households that may not normally be eligible under regular Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) rules may qualify for D-SNAP if they meet certain criteria:

  • Must NOT be receiving regular SNAP benefits
  • Must have been living or working in a disaster-declared county at the time of Hurricane Ian.
  • Must fall within certain income limits.
  • Must have suffered a disaster-related loss such as:
    • Damage to their home or self-employment property
    • Loss of food
    • Reduction or loss of income
    • Other disaster-related expenses

Eligible households will receive one month of benefits they can use to purchase groceries at SNAP-authorized stores or from select retailers online to meet their temporary food needs as they settle back home following the disaster.

Details on Florida’s D-SNAP program will be available at the Florida Department of Children and Families’ Hurricane Ian Response & Recovery website. D-SNAP sites will be posted on the website as they become available.
