Officials from FEMA, the State of Utah, Provo, Orem and Utah County worked together to produce new maps to reflect current flood risk in Utah County. New updates may affect future building standards or insurance requirements.
Floodplain boundary changes occurred in the following jurisdictions: American Fork, Genola, Lehi, Lindon, Orem, Provo, Saratoga Springs, Springville, Vineyard, and Utah County unincorporated areas. Goshen, Payson, and Pleasant Grove have changes in panel boundaries only.
Learn more about your flood risk and review new draft flood maps. Flooding is Utah’s most common and costly disaster. Floodplain maps are an important tool that communities use to know which areas have the highest risk of flooding. Maps must be periodically updated as flood hazards are dynamic and change frequently for many reasons, including weather patterns, erosion and community development.
This mapping project is part of a national effort led by FEMA to increase local knowledge of flood risks and support actions to address and reduce the effects of flooding to protect life and property. Residents are encouraged to learn about local flood risks, potential future flood insurance requirements, and to express any concerns or questions about the information provided during the appeal period. Maps are an integral part of the National Floodplain Insurance Program (NFIP). Visit www.fema.gov/national-flood-insurance-program for further information regarding the broader NFIP Program.
