FEMA established May 11, 2023, as the end of the COVID-19 national emergency declaration and major disaster declarations for state, tribal and territorial governments.
This date does not affect the application period for COVID-19 funeral assistance or the eligibility period for COVID-19-related funeral expenses.

FEMA will continue to provide COVID-19 funeral assistance until Sept. 30, 2025, which is the date identified by Congress in the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 appropriation.
