The response across southeastern states affected by Hurricane and Tropical Storm Helene continues to address critical needs of survivors. This includes search and rescue operations, power and communications restoration and delivering food and water.

As search and rescue, power restoration and communication capabilities remain top priorities throughout the Southeast, FEMA has already helped thousands of Hurricane Helene survivors jumpstart their recoveries with more than $20 million in flexible, upfront funding.

FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell announced that President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. made additional disaster assistance available to the state of Georgia to supplement recovery efforts in the areas affected by Hurricane Helene from Sept. 24, 2024 and continuing.

FEMA Disaster Survivor Assistance crews are in Georgia neighborhoods helping people apply for FEMA assistance after Hurricane Helene.

First responders across local and state governments, the private sector, nonprofits, faith-based organizations and the federal family continue working to address the immediate needs of survivors and their communities.
