San Diego, Calif. — Disaster assistance is intended to help residents pay for necessities lost due to the Jan. 21-23, 2024, San Diego County severe storm and flooding. Applications are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and if a survivor’s application is approved as eligible, they may receive a payment. A letter explaining what the payment is to be used for arrives along with the payment.

For San Diego County renters and homeowners who cannot live in their homes because of damage due to the Jan. 21-23, 2024, severe storm and flooding, FEMA Rental Assistance may help. The initial rental award is for two months and may be reviewed for further assistance.

SAN DIEGO – Mental health, language, and ASL services are available online and by phone to help survivors of the Jan. 21-23, 2024, San Diego County severe storm and flooding.

As recovery efforts continue in San Diego County following the January 2024 Storm, FEMA, the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) and local partners continue to proactively work together to bring relief to affected communities. In just three weeks since Governor Gavin Newsom secured a Major Disaster Declaration from President Joseph R. Biden, more than $12.6 million has been dispersed to help residents repair damage to their homes and property.

The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES), the County of San Diego and FEMA, along with state and local partners, will open Disaster Recovery Centers (DRC) in San Diego County starting Friday, March 1, 2024. These temporary facilities are set up to help survivors recover from the severe storm and flooding from Jan. 21-23, 2024.
