President Biden granted a major disaster declaration for Guam on Thursday, which unlocks additional FEMA funding to help the territory respond to and recover from Typhoon Mawar. The disaster declaration allows for federal funding to be available for emergency protective measures to help eliminate threats to public health and safety.

Renters in Guam whose dwelling sustained damage or loss from Typhoon Mawar can apply for federal disaster assistance.

FEMA and disaster service representatives are reaching out to Guam survivors of Typhoon Mawar that have applied for disaster assistance and federal programs. Representatives may call for a variety of reasons such as issues with applications (missing documents, insurance settlement paperwork, etc.), follow-up on access and functional needs and/or to schedule inspections at the address where damage was reported.
