If you live in Buncombe, Haywood or Transylvania County and had personal property damaged or destroyed by Tropical Storm Fred, FEMA may provide financial assistance under the Other Needs Assistance provision of the Individuals and Households Program

Residents of Buncombe, Haywood and Transylvania counties who lost access to water through their private wells or had damage to their septic system caused by Tropical Storm Fred may be eligible for financial assistance under FEMA’s Individuals and Households Program.

FEMA Disaster Survivor Assistance (DSA) teams are going door-to-door in Buncombe, Haywood and Transylvania counties and two mobile registration centers will continue operating in Haywood County this week.

If you live in Buncombe, Haywood or Transylvania County and were affected by Tropical Storm Fred, FEMA may be able to help with temporary housing expenses, basic home repairs or other essential disaster-related needs that are not covered by insurance.

As part of the disaster assistance process, FEMA must determine ownership and occupancy of damaged primary residences. Recently, the agency took steps to make it easier for disaster survivors in Buncombe, Haywood and Transylvania counties who experienced flooding from Tropical Storm Fred to verify ownership and occupancy.
