The city of Baytown is taking on a home elevation project with the goal of mitigation the risk of flooding for two severe repetitive loss homes. The project aims to raise each home above the minimum Base Flood Elevation (BFE) to help protect lives and property from future flooding events.

The city of Baytown will work with each homeowner to select qualified elevation contractors that comply with structure-specific plans, applicable codes and standards, National Flood Insurance Program requirements and the city’s freeboard requirements which state that the structures must be raised to two feet above the proposed BFE or to the 500-year BFE.
