Region 3 - Virginia

Thomas is a 12th grade student from Virginia. He became interested in preparedness through his work with the Civil Air Patrol (CAP), where emergency response is one of the core missions. During his time on the national YPC, Thomas hopes to work on an inclement weather-related personal vehicle readiness project. He is also eager to develop his strategic thinking and leadership skills.

In addition to serving as a CAP Flight Commander, Thomas holds an American Red Cross First Aid and CPR instructor certification. He has taught Search and Rescue and Cybersecurity classes to CAP cadets and instructed Scouts on First Aid and CPR. Thomas is pursuing a small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS) technician qualification and is interested in integrating sUAS technology into community education programs for search and rescue. He has volunteered more than 650 hours to his local community since 2017 and was nominated for a “Rising Star” volunteer award in 2024.

Thomas has been playing violin since he was 6 years old and has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City, New York as part of the High School Honors Performance Orchestra program. He also enjoys sailing, scuba diving, camping and backpacking.
