As a child in India, Suniti experienced a devastating flood, which has motivated her to help communities prepare for disasters. A Washington state 10th grade student, Suniti is a member of the Region 10 YPC. She also volunteers with her county’s Community Emergency Preparedness Team (CERT) and helps raise awareness of their training opportunities. She is most interested in Stop the Bleed training and the role of diversity in emergency preparedness.
As a volunteer camp counselor, Suniti discovered the need for more hands-on and engaging emergency preparedness activities for kids—that led her to develop a preparedness book for elementary school students from diverse backgrounds. She also advises school administrators and local officials on ways to help increase their awareness about the importance of emergency preparedness education for youth.
Suniti is an avid hiker and loves exploring nature, which helps her appreciate the importance of protecting the environment. She also enjoys rock climbing, reading, dancing, and playing with her dog.
