Kennedy is an 11th grade student in Washington, D.C. whose interest in preparedness was sparked by receiving Amber Alerts and flood warnings but being unsure of what to do in the event of an emergency. That has instilled a belief that effective communication is vital in all aspects of preparedness. Kennedy ties her interest in improving communication about preparedness with her love of languages. In addition to English, Kennedy speaks Mandarin, Yoruba, and German, and wants to learn additional languages. She founded a tutoring company called Sol Global Edu that focuses on helping to make language learning more engaging and accessible for kids.
Kennedy also participates with the U.S. Attorney’s Office D.C. Leadership Academy and served as head of communications for NextGen’s Youth Advisory Board. In addition, she serves on her school’s honor council and student council. As part of an ongoing internship with RSN Sports Network, Kennedy works with Run Hope Work, which helps provide local youth with pathways to employment.
Kennedy spends her free time playing golf, reading, and doing yoga.
