Kailyn is an 11th grade student from Montana. Her passion for emergency preparedness arose from a desire to minimize her anxiety following a home invasion. During her time on the national YPC, she hopes to deepen her understanding of emergency management and FEMA’s operations. She also hopes to learn more about ways to advance preparedness in rural communities.
Kailyn has a deep commitment to community service and civic engagement. She is a founding member of a community group that focuses on supporting LGBTQIA+ members through advocacy and outreach. As the high school liaison for this group, she has coordinated Safe Zone and suicide prevention trainings. Kailyn is also involved in several school programs, including student council, art club, theater, book club, yearbook and speech, and drama.
In her free time, Kailyn enjoys playing tennis, riding four wheelers and exploring the terrain on her family’s farmland. You can also find her researching topics of interest like paranormal events and emerging military technologies.
