Isabella is an 11th grade student in Florida. After witnessing the difficulty her family and neighbors had in preparing their homes for Hurricanes Irma and Matthew in 2016 and 2017, she started Hurricane Helpers, a program that provides storm resources and information on preparedness. Isabella was particularly concerned about the struggles seniors had filling sandbags and bringing in outdoor furniture. To address these issues, Hurricane Helpers provided preparation help and cleanup during Hurricanes Ian and Nicole in 2022. It also offered time-sensitive information about the storms and where to find help in their aftermath.
Isabella is a member of the Region 4 YPC and an intern at the Flagler County Emergency Operations Center, where she designs and codes new capabilities into the disaster management application to streamline communication and resource request processes.
