Georgia is a 12th grade student from Arizona. As a member of the Region 9 YPC, she has helped plan a summit to teach youth about preparedness techniques, including disaster simulations, creating preparedness kits, and CPR. Her regional YPC work has helped Georgia focus her interest in helping underserved children gain access to health and education services.
An active member of the Arizona Governor’s Youth Commission, Georgia recently led the Mental Health Workgroup project, developing a toolkit and partnering with high school counselors to bring mental health clubs to schools. She is also vice president of her city’s Mayor’s Youth Council, where she emceed this year’s youth town hall on alternative routes to post-secondary education. Additionally, Georgia is a member of the National Charity League’s youth advisory council. These experiences have helped Georgia expand the reach of her work in youth mental health and bolstered her ability to plan projects to benefit youth in her community.
Georgia volunteers with a local organization to help children with Down syndrome and is also a district governor of Interact District 5495, a group of school service clubs sponsored by Rotary. An aspiring physician, her work with the group includes its Crutches 4 Africa project.
In her spare time, Georgia enjoys playing varsity soccer, golf and baking. She is a lifelong Phoenix Suns basketball fan and has even been featured on the cover of the team’s Instagram page.
