Emily Feichthaler
Youth Preparedness Council

Region 4 - Florida

Emily is an 11th grade student from Florida. Her interest in preparedness began after witnessing the devastation caused by Hurricane Ian. While participating in cleanup efforts at her school and local organizations, she realized that better communication before, during and after the storm might have saved lives and prevented damage to homes and businesses. During her time on the national YPC, Emily hopes to focus her efforts on improving disaster preparedness outreach to individuals and communities.

Emily has volunteered more than 400 hours of her time. In 2024 she received the Congressional Award Gold Medal, the U.S. Congress’ highest youth honor for community involvement and volunteer service. Emily serves her community by distributing food, water and sandbags in advance of storms and has also been involved in post-disaster work by organizing blood drives and book donations in her community.

In her free time, Emily enjoys theater, baking, singing and playing tennis. She has performed in over 35 school and community theater productions and has performed at the renowned Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall in New York City, New York.
