New flood maps have been developed for Golden Valley County and the City of Beach. If residents or businesses feel there is an error in the map, they have a 90-day period to provide scientific or engineering data.

National Floodplain Administrator Training Needs Assessment Survey
FEMA manages the National Flood Insurance Program which includes more than 22,600 Participating Communities. This year, FEMA’s Floodplain Management Division is conducting a survey of the nation’s Floodplain Administrators who manage local floodplains for these jurisdictions. Survey findings will inform a five-year National Floodplain Administrators Training Strategy that will be coordinated by the Floodplain Management Division.

As National Dam Safety Day Approaches, FEMA Region 8 Announces Funding for North Dakota Dam Safety Efforts

FEMA Region 8 has awarded North Dakota $320,000 in National Dam Safety State Assistance Grant Program funds to enhance dam safety efforts. This announcement comes in advance of National Dam Safety Awareness Day on May 31.

President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. Approves Major Disaster Declaration for North Dakota

FEMA announced that federal disaster assistance has been made available to the state of North Dakota to supplement recovery efforts in the areas affected by severe winter storms and straight-line winds Dec. 25-27, 2023.

FEMA Provides $1.3 Million to Dakota Valley Electric Cooperative for Winter Storm Recovery

FEMA has approved more than $1.3 million to the Dakota Valley Electric Cooperative for repairs following the November 2022 winter storm. This assistance was made available under a major disaster declaration issued February 5, 2023. FEMA has now approved more than $1.8 million in Public Assistance grant funds to North Dakota for this disaster response.
