Tangipahoa Parish will elevate 14 severe repetitive loss and repetitive loss properties, aiming to reduce flooding and protect flood-prone structures within the community. The project will prevent flood damage and lead to a decrease in National Flood Insurance Program paid claims as there has been a total of 33 claims across the properties. The elevation process will follow FEMA and local ordinance requirements, raising the structures to the Base Flood Elevation plus two feet and priorities in the project will be given to socially vulnerable properties, engineering, design, structural analysis, environmental assessment, and cost estimate reviews.
