President Donald J. Trump Amends Major Declaration for the U.S. Virgin Islands

WASHINGTON – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today that additional disaster assistance is available to the territory of the U.S. Virgin Islands. The additional assistance authorizes an increase in the level of federal funding to the territory for emergency work as a result of Hurricane Maria beginning on September 16, 2017.

The President’s action increased the federal cost share to 100 percent for debris removal and emergency protective measures, including direct federal assistance, for 180 days from the start of the incident period, and then a 90 percent federal cost share thereafter.
