Event Details

This summit is an opportunity to examine resilient infrastructure challenges and innovative solutions. Attendees will get to hear from FEMA and public, private, and academic partners on a number of topics.  Below are the descriptions and times for the four session topics on Sept. 24.

FEMA is now responding to more frequent and intense disasters than any time in history. The time is now to act as a united voice to address the impacts of climate change and prepare for a more resilient future.

This hybrid event will bring together experts and stakeholders to examine resilient infrastructure challenges and innovative solutions by exploring topics, including:

  • National Resilience Guidance: Learn about FEMA’s National Resilience Guidance, a comprehensive framework designed to support communities in preparing for and responding to future climate conditions and extreme weather events. Time: 9:30 - 10:30 a.m.
  • Nature-Based Solutions: From Concept to Community: Explore the role of nature-based solutions (NBS) in enhancing community resilience and environmental equity. This session will cover practical applications, success stories, and funding opportunities to support the integration of NBS into disaster risk management strategies. Time: 10:45 a.m. - 12 p.m.
  • From Efficiency to Net Zero: Strategies for Resilient Buildings: Discover innovative approaches to achieving net-zero energy buildings and enhancing energy efficiency. This session will discuss disaster-resilient building codes, energy security, and the role of sustainable building practices in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Time: 1 - 2:15 p.m.
  • Rebuilding Sustainably: Using Disaster Debris for a Greener Future: Learn about sustainable disaster debris management practices and how communities can repurpose disaster debris through recycling, composting, and salvaging materials to promote a circular economy and reduce environmental impact.  Time: 2:30 - 3:45 p.m.
