Event Details

On September 6, 2023, FEMA announced the first 483 Community Disaster Resilience Zones in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.  FEMA used the National Risk Index and other tools to identify the census tracts across the country that are most at risk from the effects of natural hazards and climate change and most in need.

FEMA is authorized to provide additional assistance for mitigation projects that reduce natural hazard risk in, or primarily benefiting, a designated zone, including a cost share adjustment under certain FEMA mitigation grant programs.

For the designated zones, FEMA is hosting two informational webinars and encourages local officials, decision-makers, community influencers, private sector and nonprofit partners in these areas to attend one of these sessions.  The presentation for both sessions will include the same information.

For more information about the zone designations by state, view this webpage.

These designated zones will have access to technical assistance and financial support for projects that will help communities build resilience to natural hazards.
