BATON ROUGE, La.–A drive-thru Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) will open Dec. 3 in Iowa to help hurricanes Laura and Delta survivors.

 

The DRC operates under strict COVID-19 protocols to ensure visitors are safe. Masks or face coverings are required for entry and service. Survivors remain in their cars. A specialist wearing a face mask will receive documents through the window and return them.

BATON ROUGE, La.–All FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers are closed today due to inclement weather.  Assuming conditions on the ground are safe the DRCs will reopen tomorrow, Nov. 28, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

 

To check on the status of a DRC prior to a visit to ensure the facility is open, visit: egateway.fema.gov/ESF6/DRCLocator.

BATON ROUGE, La. – FEMA is seeking interested, qualified property owners to participate in its Multifamily Lease and Repair (MLR) program and its Direct Lease program.

FEMA provides two main types of assistance, Individual Assistance and Public Assistance, following major disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes, straight-line winds, flooding and other incidents. 

 

Individual Assistance

FEMA provides Individual Assistance (IA) to eligible individuals and households who have sustained losses as a direct result of a disaster that receives a federal disaster declaration.

BATON ROUGE, La. — Renters and homeowners in parishes designated for FEMA assistance after Hurricane Laura have until Nov. 27 to register for help.

Federal assistance includes help for temporary housing, rental assistance and repair or replacement of damaged property.

Additionally, grants may be available to help with other expenses such as medical and dental care, childcare, funeral and burial costs, replacing essential household items, moving and storage, vehicle repairs and cleanup.
