alert - info

New Orleans, Louisiana: $6.89 million

The city of New Orleans is undertaking mitigation efforts to decrease flood risk for severe repetitive loss properties with a total of 59 severe repetitive loss and repetitive loss flood insurance claims. This elevation project will mitigate one structure in Orleans Parish and use stabilization measures to reduce the impacts of subsidence on the structure and reduce storm water runoff burden on the city’s drainage system.

While mitigation reconstruction will be an alternate mitigation activity to elevation, the structure will be required to use the same square footage as the original structure (plus the allowable 10% increase) if it meets the city’s current code of ordinances.
