Jason Kitchens
Youth Preparedness Council

Region 7 - Missouri

Jason is a 12th grade student from Missouri. His interest in preparedness was shaped by growing up in a home that emphasized the importance of emergency planning. This interest was further fueled by his studies in cybersecurity and learning that internet scams can be prevented by increasing the public’s awareness of cybersecurity threats. He hopes his time on the national YPC allows him to collaborate with peers and make meaningful contributions to his community by raising awareness of cybersecurity threats.

As a member of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP), Jason serves as the Alpha Flight Commander for his local Composite Squadron. He has also participated in Encampment, a physically rigorous program that teaches CAP cadets leadership and emergency preparedness skills. Jason is an active participant in his local CyberPatriot team, a National Youth Cyber Education Program, and served as its team captain during CyberPatriot XVI, a competition that involves technological challenges.

Jason spends his free time practicing martial arts (Krav Maga), playing tennis and reading. He also plays the trumpet and has participated in his school’s jazz band.
