Christine Nez Nalli is a seasoned Human Resources professional with over 20 years of human capital experience in the public and private sectors. Before joining FEMA, Christine was the Deputy Director for the Office of Human Resources (OHR) at the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), USDA from March 2019 to July 2020. As the Deputy Director for OHR, she led a large, geographically dispersed, multi-disciplined HR workforce engaged in all facets of HR management in Washington, DC and Minneapolis, MN. She was responsible for the HC strategies and planning for 9,000+ FSIS workforces located throughout the United States.
Prior to USDA, Christine was the Director for HR Operations Services Division in the Office of the Chief Human Capital Officer (OCHCO) at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) where she managed seven HR programs critical to the EEOC workforce. From August 2013 to January 2019, she was the Director of the Executive Resources Division for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Department of Commerce. Prior to NOAA, Christine worked in HR at the Departments of Veterans Affairs, Energy, Treasury, and Navy in Washington DC. Christine’s HR career began in the military and private sector before she transferred her skills to the Federal Government. She has extensive experience in many areas of HR such as recruitment, staffing, executive resources, policies, benefits, payroll, performance management, and personnel security.
Prior to her Federal career, she served almost 10 years on active duty in the U.S. Army as an Ordnance Officer. Her assignments include Fort Bragg, North Carolina, South Korea, NATO Forces in Naples, Italy, and Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Her last assignment was Fort Bragg where she supported the 82nd Airborne Division and was a qualified paratrooper.
Christine earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Management in 1993 from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, and a Master of Science in Human Resources Management in 2000 from American University in Washington, DC. She is a member of the Navajo Tribe and was raised on the Navajo Reservation in Northern Arizona and Northern New Mexico. Christine is married to Dr. Nicholas R. Nalli, who is a Senior Research Scientist with IMSG at NOAA.
