Since the federal disaster declaration for Hurricane Michael, Leon County residents have received more than $5.7 million in federal funds:
- 576 individuals and households have been approved for more than $812,000 in federal grants through FEMA’s Individuals and Households Program
- 9 flood insurance claims have been filed. An estimated $69,000 in claims have been paid. (As of Dec. 14)
- Nearly $4.8 million in U.S. Small Business Administration low-interest disaster loans have been approved for 191 homeowners and renters and 9 businesses.
- More than $247,000 has been approved for basic housing repairs for 165 homeowners.
- 2,473 home inspections have been issued with 98.4 percent completed.
- Approximately 965 survivors have not provided FEMA with the necessary information from their insurance settlements to complete their disaster assistance registration.
- Through Disaster Survivor Assistance outreach more than 3,800 survivors were connected with disaster resources and recovery partners for needs beyond what FEMA can provide.
- 163 homeowners and renters are approved for rental assistance.
- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has installed 30 blue roofs in Leon County representing 30 families who are able to live in their homes while they make permanent repairs.
- More than 1.7 million cubic yards of debris has been removed in Leon County.
- The disaster recovery center at LeRoy Collins Main Library in Tallahassee opened Oct. 23 and closed Dec. 8 after assisting 1,093 visitors.
