It has been one year since Typhoon Mawar caused the island of Guam to announce a major
disaster declaration. More than $338 million in federal assistance has been provided to survivors in Guam to
include grants from FEMA through the Individual Assistance and Public Assistance Programs, and low-interest
disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). To-date, FEMA remains in the affected
communities, working with local and state officials to provide Public Assistance grants and temporary housing.
