Tribal Consultation on FEMA’s Implementation of the Shelter and Services Program

FEMA and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will host a virtual consultation with Tribal Nations on FEMA’s implementation of the Shelter and Services Program (SSP).

Event Details

The FY 2023 Consolidated Appropriations Act (P.L. 117-328) establishes the Shelter and Services Program (SSP). The grant program aims to support sheltering and related activities provided by non-federal entities in support of relieving noncitizen overcrowding in short-term holding facilities operated by CBP.

FEMA and CBP will host the tribal consultation to provide an overview of the SSP and gather additional feedback from Tribal leaders to inform FEMA’s implementation of the SSP to better serve Tribal Nations.
