State of Michigan-FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers in Dearborn, Detroit and Southfield will cease operations soon, but help is still available at two DRCs in Wayne County and a new Macomb County center opening next Tuesday, Oct. 19.

As temperatures drop in the coming months, your furnace will become the most important appliance in your home. FEMA suggests residents of Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne counties who suffered damage from June’s severe storms and flooding make sure their heating systems and water heaters are in good working condition before the cold weather arrives.

A Disaster Recovery Center will open in Southfield on Wednesday, Oct. 6, to help renters, homeowners and business owners affected by the June 25 – 26 severe storms and flooding.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is sending Disaster Survivor Assistance (DSA) teams to Macomb and Oakland counties where survivors of the June 25-26 severe storms and flooding are now eligible for Individual Assistance.

The deadline for survivors of the June 25 –26 severe storms and flooding to register with FEMA for individual disaster assistance has been extended to Friday, November 12, 2021. The extension applies to survivors living in Wayne, Washtenaw, Macomb and Oakland counties.
